Pre surgery
Before the surgery you will have a consultation with your surgeon at Transform who will guide you through the procedure, after effects and risks involved. The surgeon along with your input will recommend the most suitable option for you. Depending on what kind of look you want to achieve your surgeon will pick out the best shape and size for you. Your surgeon may also advise you to stop certain medication 2 weeks before surgery.
On the day of the surgery
At Transform this procedure is done under local or general anesthesia so there is a possibility that the patient could go home on the same day after the procedure is completed. During the procedure an incision is made under the lower lip at the jaw bone and an implant is placed in the pocket. Once the procedure is completed the incision is stitched. This surgery can take anywhere between 1-4 hours.
Post surgery
Immediately after the procedure there will be pain, swelling and bruising for a1-2 weeks. If the stitches are not dissolvable they will have to be removed after 10 days, however in most cases dissolvable stitches are used. The chin will be help together with elastic support. As chewing will be difficult a liquid diet or mashed food is recommended. The patient should recover in 2 weeks but strenuous activity must be avoided for up to 4 weeks.
