Nose Surgery

Prior to nose surgery

Your surgeon will provide a tailored preparation plan for the nose cosmetic surgery. You will have a medical examination, including on your heart and lungs. Since you are more susceptible to infection post cosmetic surgery, you must be free from throat or chest infection at the time of your operation.

Nose Surgery

Your surgeon will examine, measure and draw marks on your nose in preparation for surgery. You will then be requested to sign a form to show that you understand the procedures and have given your consent to for the cosmetic surgery to go ahead.

When you come around after your nose cosmetic surgery you will have a splint over the bridge of your nose, it is also likely that your will have packs inserted inside your nose. Ice packs will be placed over you nose, to reduce the bruising and swelling. If packs have been inserted in your nose, you will have to breathe through your mouth until they are removed the following morning. We encourage you to drink lots of fluid, as using only your mouth to breathe can put pressure on your throat. Painkillers will be available to control any pain you experience.

Post Nose Surgery

Day by day the appearance of your nose and face will improve. In the early days after cosmetic surgery slight bleeding is common and you may be asked not to blow your nose for 2 weeks to enable the tissue to heal. You will experience bruising and swelling around the eyes, ice packs will help keep this to a minimum. By the end of the week the splint should be removed and you can return to work. Wearing glasses can prove uncomfortable until the splint is removed and you are likely to struggle to insert or remove contact lenses.
