Pre surgery
Before the surgery you will have a consultation with your surgeon at Transform who will guide you through the procedure, after effects and risks involved. The surgeon along with your input will recommend the most suitable option for you. Depending on what kind of look you want to achieve your surgeon will pick out the best shape and size for you. Your surgeon may also advise you to stop certain medication 2 weeks before surgery.
On the day of the surgery
At Transform this procedure is done under local or general anesthesia so there is a possibility that you could go home on the same day after the procedure is completed. During the procedure an incision is made either below the lower eyelid or above the lip. The silicon implants are then placed through these pockets. The shape of the implant is chosen in advance together by the surgeon and patient. These implants are held in place either by using stitches, metal screws or the cheek muscle. Once this is done the incision is then stitched. This procedure can take up to 2 hours.
Post surgery
Immediately after the procedure there will be pain, swelling and bruising for a few days. If the stitches are not dissolvable they will have to be removed after 10 days. Vigorous activity must be avoided for 4-6 weeks. In some cases patients may not be able to chew so in this scenario a liquid diet is recommended.
