Pre surgery
Before the surgery you will have a consultation with your surgeon at Transform who will guide you through the procedure, after effects and risks involved. The surgeon along with your input will recommend the most suitable option for you. Depending on what kind of look you want to achieve your surgeon will pick out the best shape and size for you. Your surgeon may also advise you to stop certain medication 2 weeks before surgery.
On the day of the surgery
At Transform, calf implant surgery is normally done under general anesthesia so the patient will have to spend one night at the transform clinic/hospital. The surgery itself can take up to 2 hours for each implant. During the procedure an incision is made at the back of the knee, and the silicon implant is then carefully placed in the right position. It is held in place by the calf muscles or stitches. Once this is done the incision is then stitched.
Post Surgery
Immediately after the surgery, the patient’s legs will have to be kept in an elevated position. The bruising and swelling will start to subside after a few days. Vigorous exercise must be avoided for 6 weeks. However light work activities can be resumed in 2 weeks.
